from Bowser is this #37099 Roof Mounted Antenna kit
which includes black styrene supports and brass wire.
The
hole marks for drilling are already cast into the
undersides of the caboose roof. (The roof snaps off
by simply pressing on the sides of the body under
the cupola). |

| The
Model: There are 3 unique
road #'s available for each stock # except as noted
below on some of the Bicentennial models. They
are fully assembled with truck and screwed on body-mount
Rapido style coupler. The cars are easily converted
to Micro-Trains® using #2004 (kit) or #2004-1 (assembled)
couplers. |
| The
Prototype: The N-5 was the world's first all
steel cabin car. It was produced in 1914 by Lines East
and equipped with archbar, leaf spring trucks and small
tool boxes under their sides. While it was referred
to as a center cupola, the N-5 cupola was actually 12
1/2" off center. It had a brake lever on each end
of the platform instead of the brake wheel. Over the
years some changes occurred: the top lights and the
tool boxes were removed, Ajax brake wheels replaced
the brake levers, AB brakes replaced the K style, and
coil spring trucks were replaced by leaf spring trucks,
new end sills, collision posts and new end railings
were added. The stove and chimney were moved from the
end of the car closer to the cupola. There were a total
of 616 cars built in this era.
