| Visible
from Tokyo on a clear day, Mount Fuji has many different "faces".
It can be awsome and inspirational, fearsome and
mysterious or beautiful and friendly. These different
faces are uniquely depicted in the paint scheme of
the "Mount Fuji Express". This prototype
train is operated by the privately-owned Fuji Kyuko
Railroad Company and was painted in a unique image
for its debut in carrying tourists to scenic resort
areas at the base of the famous mountain. The cartooned
Mount Fujis are all different from one another --
creating the unique character of this train. Kato
has faithfully captured this interesting and colorful
offering in N scale. Of additional interest is the
fact that the model actually consists of two 3-car
trains ... each one powered by the middle car of
the consist. Each section has operating head / tail
lights and lifting pantograph. Interior of cars can
be illuminated. |

Royal guests' car Kuro 157-1 with
golden royal chrysanthemum emblem makes the centerpiece of
Series 157 Imperial train. The car was made in 1960 for travel
of royal family members and guests.
Furnished with very good interiors and air cushion, the Series
157 train was chosen to be most suitable for configuration
with the said royal car. Three large windows are provided
in the center of car Kuro 157-1 for the VIP room section.
The middle window can be electrically opened and closed for
convenience
of VIPs' audience with the Emperor. The combination of Kuro
157-1 and Series 157 train was in use until 1980.
